In the year 1984, Government of India, Department of Women & Child Development and Government of West Bengal, Department of women and child Development & Social Welfare jointly entrusted us this training centre under Integrated Child Development Services Scheme (ICDS) for conducting training to Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Helpers. Our training centre has been selected as model training centre on ECCE by Govt. of West Bengal and UNICEF.
Since inception the centre has been conducting the following training courses:-
During the period under report we have conducted 8 (eight) nos. One Month Job Training Courses for AWWs. Total number of trainees trained in the saidTraining Courses for AWWs is 211.
Curriculum: Both theoretical and practical teachings are imparted to the trainees on various aspects of child development including non-formal pre-school education, community participation, Health and Nutrition education. Emphasis has been laid on field work, observational visits of different places like PHC, Panchayat, Community Development Block, Anganwadi Centres, Rabindra Bhawan etc. As part of practical training the trainees have also been placed to different Anganwadi Centres for gaining practical knowledge and developing skill. Besides day to day recreational activities a 'Nature studies cum Picnic' is organized. The centre also helped the trainees to organize cultural programmes at the training centre to boost up their cultural efficiency.
Work kit: Teaching aids like posters, charts, flip charts, flannel graphs and all other pre-school teaching aids, which are necessary have to be prepared by the workers themselves.
Evaluation: Feedback is taken after each session. At the end of the course written examinations are held followed by viva-voce.
Follow up: Follow-up visit by the staff of the training centre to different ICDS Project is conducted from time to time where our ex-trainees were working.
