Projects Details
An important area of activities of this organization is to promote Rabindra culture and the practice of cultural events of rural Bengal. The inmates of Swadhar Greh and (Home for women) and CNCP Home (Home for girl-children) are learning music; dance etc., moreover the theatre workshop is conducted in regular basis in collaboration with ‘Sahityika Santiniketan’, a theatre group, in view of mainstreaming the inmate girls in distress.
The Centre for folk-lore is an important section of the Institute, devoted to the study and promotion of folk-lore in India which was initiated in the year 1985.
The young Bauls (some of them often feel tempted to sing cheap songs to gain cheap popularity) are always encouraged by the centre and are assisted to get proper training under the noted "Guru". The youths of Tribal villages around Santiniketan and Sriniketan are also encouraged to organize cultural programmes in the Centre, in the Villages and also in Kolkata.
SUDHA KARU SHILPA KENDR- a production cum selling centre is being run to rehabilitate the present inmates of ‘Kshanika’ Swadhar Greh (Home for women) and of ‘Naveena’ Girls’ Home, as well as to organize a production cum marketing place for the ex-inmates of the Home and other poor rural artisans, who want to be economically self-supported through producing and selling their handicraft products, such as bag, purse, kantha & Gujrati (embroidery) saree, kurta, swal, blouse piece, jute wall-hanging & mat etc. and hobbyloom products. This creative work makes a great impact on these distressed girls and women.
