The scheme was started in the year 1987 and has been continuing since then successfully. 

The main objectives of the scheme are:

• To support the needy and talented children
• To reduce drop-out rate of children of poor economic section from the school 
• To make the parents aware of education for better living.

The financial help comes from well-wishers and friends from India and abroad.  Each person adopts one or more students. Criteria of selection are that the student must be from low-income group and is eager to continue their education.  We prefer to help from nursery to graduation or post graduate level if they show desire.

There is a regular contact between the parents, children and the institute staff for monitoring their progress.  The children are provided with counselling services when necessary.

One student of this programme has been selected as the Researcher in Astrophysics in Indian Space Research Organization.
