Projects Details

The fruits and vegetable processing unit was set up with the grant-in-aid from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and Horticulture, Govt. of West Bengal in the year 1995.

The main objective was to train up the distressed women and girls in the fields of both the theoretical and practical aspects of fruits and vegetables processing, so as to make them financially self supported to some extent.  We trained totally 121 distressed women and girls of the surrounding area in four successive batches with the financial help from Stichting Doen, Netherlands.  The training programme started from September 1995 and ended in September 1998.

We trained 27 male and female candidates during Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) training sponsored by MFPI&H, the Govt. of West Bengal in September 2007.  In 2010, EDP training to the Self Help Group members was given to 300 women from 4 Community Development Blocks.

The FPO license number for the various processed approved products like jams, jellies, sauces was 7363 and the brand was MOHOR.  At present the license is under FSS, 2006 Act.

The trained inmates of Short Stay Home prepare different items in our food processing unit and sell those in local areas.  The products are also sent to our emporium Sudha Karu Shilpo Kutir, local shops and cooperative stores for sale.

The products from our processing unit gained popularity in locality and are exhibited and sold in Poush Mela, Santiniketan.  The local residents also get their fruits or vegetables processed in our processing unit at a cheap rate.

In 2012, a few machineries were purchased out of the granted fund from MFPI&H, Govt. of West Bengal under RKVY Project.

In 2012 we imparted training to 32 and 35 women in the field of food processing from two blocks for one month.  In the same year EDP training was given to selected women for 6 weeks.

In course of time our training cum production centre came under NMFP and was specially meant for imparting training.

In 2013 EDP training was given to 25 male and female candidates for a period of one month with a view that some of them would set up their own unit.

The spices such as cumin, coriander, turmeric and red chili powder are now being prepared by the inmates of Homes.
