‘Uttaran’, the supportive project for two Homes started in December 2019 with the financial support of the Dorothy Whitney Elmhirst Trust, UK and the Dartington Solar Quest, USA. The overarching goal of the proposed project is mainstreaming of distressed girls and women into a life with dignity through provision of quality services.

The specific objectives of the project are:

1.  1. Providing with an environment to distressed women and girl children for complete reintegration through:

a)    Educational support in terms of additional reading material, provision of tutors in addition to formal school

b)    Health care support for all including ill, physically challenged, mentally unstable and pregnant girls and women by regular health check-ups done by specialists, provision of medicine and other medical aid including sanitary napkins, special attendant for the sick (need based)

c)    Providing nutritious food to all residents including the ill and pregnant in terms of providing protein diet, fruits & vegetables and cereals

d)    Providing proper clothing to adjust to the extreme climatic conditions in Santiniketan during the long summer and a very intensive winter

e)    Provision of vocational training for both young and old in weaving, embroidery & tailoring and food processing

f)     Starting new centres for production and training for weaving, embroidery and tailoring as well as food production & processing, and installation of machines for respective productions. These centres can evolve into sources of surplus and financial sustenance and deployment of trained residents.

2.   2. Provision of emotional support to distressed women and girl children as well as their respective families (as the case may be)  through special counselling and training in cultural activities

3.   3.Infrastructural development of two Homes for women and children along with premise, for comfortable accommodation of the residents.
